Joseph and Mary
Joseph stops for the night at an old man’s house.
He’s on his ride back from visiting his betrothed, Mary, at Zechariah and Elizabeth’s home. After finding out she was with child, he had ridden to Elizabeth’s to inform Mary that it was all over. But she seemed so convinced of her crazy story about bearing the son of God, he hadn’t had the heart to go through the breakup.
On his way back though, he makes up his mind to turn his horse around and tell her, but instead he soon falls into a deep sleep where he dreams of an angel who told him that Mary would indeed bear a son who would save the world from their sins. When he wakes he knows it’s true.
A good Christmas story of faith and wonder.
